Product Description

Product Overview

Shenzhen Sunmy Hardware Co., Ltd. manufactures custom hose barb fittings and threaded adapters for fluid-handling equipment, dosing systems and pneumatic assemblies. Send your drawing or sample to specify the hose connection, port thread, through-bore, material and finish as one made-to-order component, from prototypes to repeat production.

Need a different hose size, thread or installation length? We tailor barb geometry, insertion length, bore, sealing features and wrench access to your assembly. The illustrated straight adapter combines a multi-barb hose tail, male thread and axial passage. Final geometry, material and supply scope follow your approved drawing, not a fixed catalog configuration.

Manufacturing Process & Engineering Insights

For custom straight adapters, our manufacturing review starts with CNC turning, bore machining and thread cutting. Formed blanks or tubular forming can be evaluated for suitable designs and volumes. The route is selected to suit your geometry, material and order quantity, with finishing and inspection agreed before production.

  • CNC Turning & Secondary Machining: Turn the body, shoulders and hose-tail profile; drill and finish the axial bore to the drawing. Mill wrench flats or other non-rotational features where specified. For repeat volumes, compare suitable forming or rolling alternatives without changing approved interfaces.
  • Hose-Specific Barb Geometry: Define barb crest diameter, pitch, taper, edge condition and insertion length around the selected hose and retention method. Review liner damage, assembly effort and pull-off requirements with the actual hose. Specialty or reinforced tubing requires its own compatibility assessment.
  • Thread Form & Sealing Interface: Machine NPT, BSPT/R, BSPP/G, metric or Unified threads to their respective specifications. Tapered connections require the matching port and an approved sealing method; parallel connections require the specified sealing face and seal. Ring gauges verify external threads; plug gauges apply to internal threaded variants.
  • Deburring, Cleaning & Surface Finishing: Remove machining chips and control burrs at bore entries, barb edges and thread starts without changing critical geometry. Select cleaning, passivation, plating or other finishing to suit the alloy and medium. Cleanliness limits, verification methods and protective packaging are agreed for the order.

Key Engineering Specifications

All dimensions and interfaces are customizable to your drawings or approved sample. The options below are for project selection, not fixed stock sizes or universal performance ratings.

Parameter / Attribute Specification / Project Options OEM Customization & Engineering Notes
Product Designation Custom hose barb fitting / threaded hose adapter Hose tail, port connection, body and bore to drawing or approved sample.
Manufacturing Process CNC turning, drilling, boring and thread machining; secondary milling as required. Formed blanks, tubular forming or thread rolling evaluated where geometry, material and volume justify them.
Material Selection Stainless steel: 304, 316L, 316Ti
Brass: C36000, CW614N or a specified lead-free grade
Aluminum: 6061-T6, 7075-T6
Carbon steel: grade and protection to specification
Select the alloy and condition for the medium and environment. Identify material traceability and any required regulatory documentation in the RFQ.
Hose Barb Interface Single- or multi-barb design; diameter, pitch, taper and insertion length to print. Specify hose ID and tolerance, wall thickness, hardness, temperature and clamp or ferrule arrangement. Barb OD is not the nominal hose ID.
Through-Hole (Bore ID) Passage diameter, transitions, wall thickness and functional roughness to drawing. Provide the target flow, medium and allowable pressure drop where relevant. Agree any required flow or cleanliness verification with the sample plan.
Thread Connection NPT: ASME B1.20.1
BSPT/R: ISO 7-1
BSPP/G: ISO 228-1
Metric or Unified: specified standard, size, pitch and class
Thread forms are not interchangeable. BSPP/G and other parallel connections need a defined sealing interface; seal geometry and supply scope must be specified.
Dimensional Tolerances Critical dimensions, profile, thread and sealing features per approved drawing. Specify dimensional acceptance after finishing and use the gauges required by each thread system. Confirm the critical barb and port interfaces on the first article.
Surface Cleanliness Cleaning, drying and protection to the agreed particle and residue requirements. Define the verification method, acceptance limits and packaging for the intended service. Special cleaning requirements are included by agreement.
Surface Finishing Stainless: passivation or electropolishing
Suitable substrates: nickel or zinc-nickel plating
Aluminum: anodizing where specified
Confirm substrate, medium, coating coverage, thickness and inspection. Passivation standard or corrosion testing is defined when required.
Operating Pressure Rating Working pressure, temperature, pressure cycling and any vacuum duty are project-specific. Validate the fitting, hose, retention device, mating port and seal together. Working, proof and burst pressures are distinct; no universal rating is assigned here.
Special Application Suitability Food-contact, medical and high-purity requirements must be declared at RFQ stage. Material certificates alone do not establish application approval. Define the applicable material, surface, cleaning and validation requirements.

Key Features & OEM Manufacturing Advantages

  • Interfaces Matched to Your Assembly: Combine the required hose tail, thread, body length and tool access in one custom adapter. Review the mating-port and hose details before committing to samples or production.
  • Bore and Hose Connection Reviewed Together: Tailor the passage diameter, transitions and wall thickness to the required flow and installation space. Identify functional roughness and flow-verification requirements before quotation so the hose connection and internal passage are reviewed together.
  • Thread and Seal Requirements Kept Together: Define the thread family, size, pitch, applicable class and sealing geometry on one drawing. Allow for finishing on critical surfaces and agree the required thread gauges and inspection stage.
  • One Contact for Multi-Process Sourcing: Coordinate turned fittings with related machined adapters, stamped brackets or molded components when your project needs them. Keep drawing revisions, finishing and supply boundaries aligned across the component set.
  • Inspection Planned Around Critical Features: Agree dimensional, profile, thread and surface checks before manufacture. Leak, pressure or pull-off testing requires defined fixtures, conditions, acceptance criteria and sampling. Material records, FAI and other documentation are specified in the quotation.

Technical FAQ for Procurement & Engineering Teams

Q1 Can you customize the barb to our existing hose and port?
A: Yes. Send the hose specification or a sample, including its inside-diameter tolerance, wall thickness, hardness, operating conditions and retention method. We review barb diameter, spacing, crest shape and insertion length together with the port connection. Fit, insertion effort and pull-off requirements are confirmed through agreed sample and assembly checks using the specified hose, rather than a fixed oversize percentage.
Q2 How are cleaning and cleanliness requirements agreed?
A: Specify the permitted particle or residue limits, test method and packaging needs. We review a suitable cleaning and verification plan, including ultrasonic cleaning where appropriate. The agreed plan links each cleanliness requirement to a verification method and protective packaging. Declare special-service requirements when requesting a quotation so they are included in the scope.
Q3 What should we send for a quotation and manufacturing review?
A: Send a 2D drawing (PDF, DWG or DXF), a 3D model (STEP or IGES) when available, and the prototype and repeat-order quantities. Include the thread standard, mating port, hose details, medium, pressure, temperature and finish. No drawing? Send a sample and known requirements so an approval drawing can be prepared. The quotation identifies the agreed manufacturing and inspection scope.
Q4 Do you support prototypes, small batches and repeat production?
A: Yes. Prototype, pilot and repeat-production orders are evaluated individually. MOQ, tooling needs and delivery dates are confirmed after reviewing the drawing, material, finish and quantity. A machined sample may avoid dedicated forming tooling; where production tooling is proposed, its cost and timing are quoted separately before approval.
Q5 Can you add hex flats, knurling or supply related adapters?
A: Yes. Wrench flats, hex bodies, knurled collars, sealing shoulders and other interfaces can be developed to your drawing. Related reducers and threaded adapters can be quoted alongside the hose barb fitting against their own drawings. Hoses, clamps and seals are included only when specified. Send the mating-port details, sample or drawing, and quantity for a coordinated quotation.
Q6 What inspection reports and material certifications can be provided?
A: Material test reports (MTR), dimensional inspection reports, and First Article Inspection (FAI) reports can be provided upon request. Inspection parameters and sampling plans are established prior to production based on critical design dimensions.
